Before coming to LifeHouse, I had not attended church in a long time due to a bad experience with another church. At the time I was in a relationship with a man who was abusive. He introduced me to a church and used the teachings of the church to feed into his abusive tactics, often by twisting scripture to justify his actions. This experience made me wary of Christian teachings and, as a result, I distanced myself from God. For a decade after I ended the relationship with this man, I was still hungry for a relationship with Jesus, but could not get past my experience with my ex and the other church.
My husband and I decided to try some churches after we moved to Abilene. LifeHouse was the first one we tried, and we immediately loved it! We didn’t bother exploring any other options because we felt right at home! Everybody at LifeHouse is so welcoming and non-judgmental. The message is contemporary and I have an easy time applying it to my life. The scripture is preached as God intended, not twisted to cater to a certain individual’s or group’s personal (not Christ-centered) beliefs. I enjoy going to the LifeGroup on Wednesdays, where we discuss the Sunday message in-depth. My husband enjoys going to Band of Brothers, a men’s Bible study on Sundays, and I like going to Girlfriends in God, the women’s Bible study on Tuesdays. These groups strengthen us as individuals and as a couple. I am so glad that we found this church. We look forward to every Sunday!

My wife and I are from out of town and often come back to Abilene to visit my parents. For years we went to church with them at the church I grew up in, more out of obligation, certainly not receiving much spiritual nourishment. Then I reconnected with my old baseball buddy Kerry Coup and heard about what he was doing with LifeHouse in Abilene. My wife and kids visited one Sunday and were blessed by moving worship, a contemporary message grounded in biblical truth, and a community of believers that made us feel very welcome. Not to mention a darn good cup of coffee. Now we even look more forward to our visits back to Abilene, as we know LifeHouse will be part of our weekend experience while back visiting family. We deeply appreciate LifeHouse, Kerry, and the opportunity to fellowship with a great bunch of people.
Thank you,
